Your instructors

The people in the right seat.

A short list: the two people who answer the phone and run the school. Instructor profiles go up as each one signs off on their own.

The flight

The people who'll fly with you.

Kyle Starkweather

Owner

Kyle founded Technique Only on the argument that flight training had drifted — expensive, impersonal, and organised around producing airline candidates rather than pilots.

The house rules come from him: the Hobbs stops when the flying does, sport pilots are trained as pilots, and the airport is a place to belong rather than a counter to pay at.

Richard

Operations Coordinator

Richard runs scheduling and is usually the voice on the other end of the line when a Discovery Flight gets booked.

Questions about timing, aircraft availability or where to park on the first visit land with him.

What to expect from us

The standard behind every lesson.

  1. 01

    One instructor at a time

Training here is two people in a small airplane. Continuity with the same instructor is the norm, and a change is a conversation rather than a schedule accident.

  2. 02

Ground time is not flight time

Briefings and debriefs happen, and they are not billed as flight time. The meter runs on the flying.

  3. 03

    Every certificate, one ramp

Sport Pilot students and CFI candidates train out of the same hangar, which is how the newest person on the field ends up learning from the most experienced.
